My first blog post!πŸ‘

ABOUT YOU

My name is Raegyn Miller and I am currently a second year at Linn Benton Community College! I am newly studying Communications and so far it's been great (we're one week inπŸ˜„.) I have a few hopes, goals, and dreams for my future career; The first one being to enjoy my career. So many people graduate with a degree and begin to pursue what they thought was something they loved, then soon it turns into a chore to go to work everyday. My number one goal is to LOVE my job. I want to wake up everyday and be excited to continue pursuing my career and accomplishing my goals.

My dream job would be something along the lines of managing or leading a company's marketing team or PR department. PR stands for "Public Relations" and it's something that social media influencers or "stars" receive for free, in hopes that they, in return, would create content advertising those brands or specific products. I think it would be awesome to get to do the behind the scenes communicating with influencers, and be able to build relation with different brands. I believe managing, organizing events, and communication is something I am good at, and would continue to grow and succeed in.

Out of all the media and culture what interests me most are the ways people chose to produce and create content. I believe there are both strong and weak ways in doing so, for various different topics amongst the media. I like to think about the behind the scenes and the leading strategy behind marketing, publishing news, and content in general.

Outside of college I am passionate about travel, sports, and quality time with those I love! I grew up playing sports and in a competitive family of 8. We learned and watched just about every sport, and I quickly became intrigued by them all. I grew up in Eugene, so i'm forever a duck fan! Growing up there also allowed me to enjoy being outside and exploring new places. Someday I hope to roadtrip the US, and hopefully make my way to Europe.

THE INFORMATION YOU CONSUME

My three main sources of information right now are TikTok, Instagram, and whatever comes on my radio in the car. I would consider these my go-to sources because they're such easy access, and they're apps/things I use daily. Throughout my Instagram or TikTok doom scrolls I often come across a variety of different news or political videos informing me of current events or a perspective of some topic a random stranger may be talking about.  I know these sources aren't always giving me the "full story" and some of it is completely made up. I always make sure to check their facts before assuming or believing the things I hear on these apps. Once I have a general idea about an event that might be occurring, then ill go on and ask or discuss the topic with someone around me who I trust and who might know more details on that event.
